The size and location of damage on your vehicle's front or rear windshield will determine if an auto glass replacement is needed.

For repairs, the process begins by first cleaning the glass, removing any loose shards, and prepping the affected area before injecting a curing resin. A polymer resin is then injected into the damaged area, with the repair staying on the top layer of glass. The damaged area is then placed under a vacuum tool to remove any air trapped inside the chip, making the auto glass chip repair professionally filled and sealed. Once this mending process is completed, the repaired surface is left to solidify beneath a UV light to cure and seal properly.

A windshield is formed when two glass sheets are held together by an inner layer of polyvinyl butyrate (in other words glue). You may have noticed auto glass broken, but not shattered. When damaged, the glass is held firmly in place by the polyvinyl butyrate. Side windows and mirrors are quite different from the windshield, in this sense, they easily shatter in pieces.
